Overview

Transportation is the largest source of US greenhouse gas emissions — 28% of the national total in EPA's 2022 data — and medium- and heavy-duty trucks account for about 23% of that. ClimeUp gives carriers, 3PLs, freight forwarders and shippers one system to measure those emissions to ISO 14083 and the GLEC Framework, aligned with EPA SmartWay.

It delivers emissions at shipment level so customers can drop them straight into their Scope 3, and turns TMS, telematics and fuel-card data into a fleet transition plan you can fund.

Customers want CO₂e per shipment

Shippers with science-based targets now include emissions data in freight RFPs and carrier scorecards, and averages won't hold up to their assurance. ClimeUp gives you primary, standard-based numbers.

ISO 14083 & GLEC by default

Calculate well-to-wheel emissions for truckload, LTL, intermodal, rail, ocean, air and parcel — including empty running and hub operations.

Shipment-level data via API

Share CO₂e per load, lane or customer by API or export, mapped to customers' Scope 3 Categories 4 and 9.

Fleets and fuels in transition

Diesel still dominates heavy trucking, and the business case for electric and hydrogen trucks depends on duty cycle, charging access and incentives that keep changing. ClimeUp makes the trade-offs visible.

Zero-emission fleet modelling

Model battery-electric and fuel-cell trucks by route and duty cycle, including charging load, total cost of ownership and emissions avoided.

Low-carbon fuel accounting

Account for renewable diesel, biodiesel, RNG and sustainable aviation fuel with well-to-wheel factors, and keep book-and-claim certificates separate from your physical inventory.

A shifting US rulebook

In February 2026 EPA rescinded the greenhouse gas endangerment finding and repealed federal vehicle GHG standards, while California's truck rules are in flux and local rules increasingly target warehouses. Customer and investor demands haven't changed. ClimeUp keeps one dataset ready for all of it.

SB 253 & SmartWay reporting

Produce California SB 253 Scope 1 and 2 inventories, and keep carrier and shipper data consistent with EPA SmartWay tools.

Warehouses & air quality

South Coast AQMD Rule 2305 (WAIRE) requires warehouses of 100,000 sq ft or more to earn emission-reduction points each year or pay a mitigation fee. ClimeUp tracks the truck trips, yard equipment, chargers and solar behind those points.

How it works

1

Capture

Pull shipments, fuel, telematics and carrier data from your TMS, ELDs and fuel cards.

2

Calculate

Compute ISO 14083 emissions by shipment, lane, mode and customer.

3

Share & transition

Report to customers and regulators, and model your path to a lower-carbon fleet.

Frameworks & Standards

ClimeUp keeps you aligned with the standards your auditors, investors and regulators expect.

Frequently asked questions

SmartWay is EPA's voluntary public-private program for benchmarking freight efficiency. ClimeUp complements it: your data stays consistent with SmartWay tools, while ClimeUp adds ISO 14083 and GLEC shipment-level emissions for customers' Scope 3 and corporate inventories for SB 253 and CDP.

Yes. ClimeUp calculates CO₂e per shipment, lane and customer to ISO 14083 and shares it by API or scheduled export, so shippers can use it directly in their Scope 3 Category 4 (upstream) and Category 9 (downstream) transport reporting.

Shipment records (origin, destination, weight and mode) from your TMS, plus fuel or energy data where you have it from fuel cards, telematics or ELD exports. Where carrier-specific data is missing, ISO 14083 and the GLEC Framework allow modelled or default values; ClimeUp flags these so you can replace them with primary data over time.

It applies to warehouses in the South Coast AQMD — Orange County and the urban parts of Los Angeles, Riverside and San Bernardino counties — with at least 100,000 sq ft of floor space, of which at least 50,000 sq ft is used for warehousing. Operators must earn WAIRE points annually through actions such as zero-emission trucks and yard equipment, chargers or solar, or pay a mitigation fee. ClimeUp keeps the underlying data in one place.
